    blood delivers oxygen to your muscles. oxygen fuels your muscles, so more oxygen lets them work longer. the longer your muscles can work the better exercise you will get. Dan

    As you exercise, your blood vessels in your muscles dilate and the blood flow is greater. As adenosine triphosphate, ATP, gets used up in working muscle, your muscle produces several metabolic byproducts. These byproducts leave the muscle cells and cause the capillaries (small, thin-walled blood vessels) within the muscle to expand or dilate. The increased blood flow delivers more oxygenated blood to the working muscle, thus letting you exercise longer and get a greater muscle gain. Keaton
