What are the correct Air Force BMT Fitness standards and times?

I am leaving for Air Force basic in a month and I was wondering if anyone knew the correct fitness standards for graduation and how much time is given to do sit ups and pull ups.

The packet I was given by my recruiter is rather old (still says basic is 6 1/2 weeks) and doesn’t list how much time is given for each exercise. For the highest standard, “Warhawk,” it says 75 push ups and 80 sit ups. That seems like way too many reps to complete in just one minute. Do you actually have 2 minutes or have the standards changed?

Thanks!

Fitness facilities on a US Navy destroyer carrying 300 crew members?

Alex asked:

What kind of fitness facilities (gyms, etc.) are there on a US Navy destroyer carrying 300 crew members? Are they separate facilities for officers and enlisted personnel or are all these facilities for everyone? I heard that junior officers are extremely busy when the ship is underway, but do most of them have time or make it a practice to exercise every day? Just curious.

Why does the Navy have the sit and reach in their Physical Fitness Test?

drummerguy asked:

I recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy and am already in excellent physical condition (thanks to tennis, skateboarding, mountain biking, swimming, tai chi, etc.), however, this question still plagues me. Why in the world does the Navy have within their physical fitness regimen the sit and reach? I’ve been trying to picture a scenario in which a sailor would benefit from successfully completing the sit and reach, but I am simply stumped. If someone could tell me why, I would be most appreciative.

cesar asked:

A reserve soldier takes the APFT twice during the rating period but cannot complete either run due to knee problems. He does not have a military profile, but his treatment is documented by civilian doctors. What would be the correct entry on the physical fitness portion of the NCOER, fail/needs improvement or no APFT/success? Where can I find the correct statement to insert?

I Currently weigh 14stone 6lbs, I’m 6ft 2 and have a large frame. I’m finding it difficult to loose weight at the moment; i lost a fair amount over the past year yet now i seem to be on a stand still – any ideas why?

In January i applied to the RN, although i need to improve my fitness further to pass the PJFT – has anyone got any specific advice i could follow?

Thanks alot guys.
